I particularly like the vertical virtualization model. This is essentially what we're doing at the VMware Server Installfests, only we're using IPCop instead of Vyatta.
I'll be looking closer at Vyatta (debian based) and pfSense (FreeBSD based) as virtual networking servers in the future, probably when IPCop (LFS based) v2 becomes stable. I think that all 3 products are viable.
