I generally install nautilus-terminal to give me a terminal built-in to nautilus. Extremely handy. Here are the instructions from my changelog:
Added
nautilus terminal (terminal within a nautilus window) as shown on
http://www.webupd8.org/2010/09/nautilus-terminal-embeds-terminal-into.html
and
http://www.webupd8.org/2010/09/nautilus-embedded-terminal-gets.html
using:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flozz/flozz
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nautilus-terminal
nautilus -q
Backtrack lacks a lot of the user-friendly functionality that you would get with a standard Ubuntu distribution. Because Backtrack is often used as a live distribution, the focus is on keeping it as lean as possible. Synaptic should be on board, though.
