netscape 4.5.1 on redhat 6.0

Sujet: netscape 4.5.1 on redhat 6.0
win 3.1 was on an old 486 with Netscape 2.01. Now redhat 6.0
is on the same machine. pppd and chat make the connection to
the ISP. It shows up as ppp0 when ifconfig is executed. IPs
show in the kernel routing table. The IP can be ping-ed, but
Netscape does not seem to access the connection and neither
does lynx. What will it take?
