Streaming w/linux

In terms of streaming live content(radio) what is the best solution for
Linux? Is there a Open Source alternative to the RealServer? Is there
better way to stream? Our audience will be the typical net audience so more
popular streaming ways are preferred. We may buy the Software from Real but
I wanted to ask first.
