Linux <= 128MB

What do you mean? I can't install RedHat from the distro CDs. It chokes
claiming it needs at least 200MB (or around that) just for the swap partition.

Do you mean somehow copy boot files, etc. from a working RedHat hard drive
to the PC-card? Great idea. How?
