logigitech cordless optical mousman

I am starting to have trouble with my left wrist (possibly carpeltunnel)
and ended up buying a new keyboard and mouse... I ended up buying the
new logitech cordless/optical set. The keyboard plugged right in, but
the mouse does not seem to respond at all. Anyone know what the trick
might be?
