How do you take Linux off of a hard drive?

I can't stick my 98 disk in. This is a second drive.
When I attempt to run fdisk.exe /mbr the fdisk program doesn't pop up. I
thionk that perhaps it isn't supposed to so I do a dir of my e drive (the
problem) and it tells me "File not found". At this point I run format e: and
it responds with "Invalid media or Track 0 bad - disk unusable.
"Format terminated."
So what do I need to do?
