Webcam

Okay, I'm trying to get my webcam to work and so downloaded three tarballs. I
then tar -x these files and have a bunch of source files. Now I'm stuck.
What do I do? Should I open an editor and then copy the text of the files
into it. Or should I open each individual file up with the editor and then
gcc each indvidual file? And then one of the pages was talking about creating
modules with the files. How do I do that?
I hate not knowing what to do!
