Debian unstable

Is anyone else useing Debian unstable and have a broken system right
now? I can't get any gnome or kde apps to start yet basic twm and
xterm, xeyes etc start just fine. This was after a major update today
of just about everything. I have not had this much trouble with
unstable in the 5 years I have been running it. It is just really
weird.

Any help would be much apreciated.
