1) You talking about AD or NT Domain?
2) Samba 4 is not out yet.
3) Samba 3 client can join both AD and NT style domains.
4) To join AD domain, need to configure krb5.
5) RedHat and Suse will have samba 3 client. But expect to configure a few things before you can get things to work.
6) Does not really matter if RedHat or Suse.
