joomla

I just bought a joomla book and so now need to d/l the program (couldn't
beat the price.... it was a dollar). I'm looking at a tutorial for doing
that and it says to install the LAMP stack first. The tutorial for
installing it is .... uhhh..... I don't like it. Is there an easy way to
install it?
